Production

The production processes at AB Rundvirke apply modern methods of efficiency and classic woodworking techniques. The combination of modern technology and time-honoured woodworking craftsmanship helps to create a highly-efficient production flow.

In the end, however, advanced technology and state-of-the-art automation ultimately rely on the people involved in the production process. Experience, wisdom, and a thorough understanding of timber are all prerequisites in order to reach the high standard of quality that we seek to achieve. The most important factor in our quality strategy is to build on the long-term experience of our employees.

Production step by step

Raw material
Raw material

Our own raw material company, Rundvirke Skog AB, selects trees based upon a series of high-quality standards and environmental factors.

Sawing

When sawing unedged stammware, the classic frame saw is still the best solution because it affords accurate and uniform measurement.

The cants are first sawn into unedged stammware and prior to kilning, split-sawn with pith-taking parallel to the grain and the wane edge into solid scantlings.

Kilning

AB Rundvirke owns fourteen high-performance WSAB chamber kilns. Each chamber has a capacity of about 115 m3 sawn timber. A mild drying process and good storage conditions ensure high quality.

Grading plant
The final process takes place in the grading plant where we adjust and sort the individual pieces of timber into different grades. The last phase also involves distributing the finished products to our customers – mainly as window and moulding products.

Swedish timber is unique!

Rundvirke Skog AB is our in-house raw material company. The first stage of the production process takes place in the forest; the skilled staff from the forestry department at Rundvirke Skog select the cants from which unedged stammware is to be sawn. The selection process is based upon exacting quality standards. Vital factors such as the impact on the environment and the protection of natural resources are also taken into account.

As a result of its unparalleled access to quality Swedish cants from the best region in the country, Rundvirke sets the standard for optimum quality and guaranteed deliveries.
